BMW M47 Diesel Light
Discussion
Just a quick query for anyone with a BMW M47 Diesel engine.
I have an M47r in a Rover 75 which has done almost 280,000 miles - on a cold startup it takes 1-2 seconds for the oil light to extinguish, but on warm starts it goes out pretty much as the engine catches.
Is this normal? Or is it a sign of something bad happening imminently?
It's just had an oil and filter change (genuine parts) and did the same before / after with no change. It doesn't sound unduly rough on a cold start and always catches immediately.
