Swapping private plate with new tax disc rules...help.
Discussion
I have just put my civic reluctantly up for sale, which has a private plate on. I am taking over my girlfriends old Corsa for the time being (sad times) to free up some cash. The car is waiting on the driveway until I sell the Civic.
The best option for me after a read is to fill out a v317 form to transfer the plate directly over to the Corsa. It appears I should fill this in and send it off with the v5, mot certificate and copy of tax disc once the new keeper has filled it in, costing £80.
Q1 – Do you need x2 v317 forms to fill out to send off for each car? It says you need to send off the v5 and docs for each car during this process, shall I assume to include this form with each?
Q2 – How does the new tax disc legislation affect this process? Obviously I won’t get sent out an updated one now. And presumably I won’t need to send a copy of my disc with the documents?
Q3 – Will my civic get given its original registration? If so I have the old plates to include in the sale.
Q4 – Will the new keeper be notified to change the plates back over the same time as I am told I can put the plates onto the Corsa?
Sorry if this has been covered before, I did search!
Thanks very much.... I’m pulling my hair out trying to find clear answers looking on the dvla site.
Any other words of wisdom, greatly received.

The best way is to transfer your plate first, then sell the car the plate has come off with the plate allocated to it.
That would seem an obvious solution I guess, except there's a 3 week odd lead time to receiving documents so if someone were to come and look at the car this weekend, I couldn't let them have the car for a further 3 weeks. My insurance runs out on the 24th also, but I guess worst case, I will just renew it with the Corsa even if the civic isn't sold.
