Cancelled insurance - can't find cert to send back

I've recently sold a couple of vehicles. One was sorned and not insured. The other was taxed and insured. I called to cancel the insurance and was told the cancellation charge meant I would get no refund. Fair enough. I was also told to post the certificate back, but I can't find it. Given the fact that there's nothing in it for me, I'm not inclined to spend a lot of time looking for it.

Will this bite me in the arse, or should I relax with a beer?

Personally I wouldn't let it bother you, they might chase you for it but to be honest they're unlikely to bother, back in the days before MID it was more of an issue but a quick MID check shows the insurance status.
