RE: Mercedes-AMG GT preview evening
Wednesday 1st October 2014

We love being able to offer PHers access to exclusive offers and events as frequently as possible. Well, today is one of those days... We've teamed up with the Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands to offer PHers an exclusive chance to see the highly anticipated Mercedes-AMG GT. The car on show at MBW will be the first one in the UK no less, so you will be amongst the very first people to see it in this country.
Mercedes-AMG GT preview evening
Join PH at Mercedes-Benz World for an exclusive look at the new AMG GT

All you need to do is put your name down here and make your way to Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands between 1830 and 2030 this Tuesday, October 7. Furthermore, you'll be kept refreshed with complimentary soft drinks whilst you enjoy a look around the car.
See you there!

I think Mercedes have trouble making their cars look good in photos right now. Mind you better that than the other way round.
I'm not 100% certain they've got the front end quite right on this new GT thing. I hope I'm proved wrong as the rest of the car looks great, interior especially.I'll be at MBW and as a die-hard 911ist I'll be very curious to see if I can be swayed.
Should be a decent evening, shame I'm too far away to do this
However, I was lucky to be shown round a new GT when I visited AMG last Friday and it does look good (assuming you like the way it looks in the pictures because it's one of those cars where the pictures reflect the reality very closely).
The interior is stunning, a huge improvement in design over the SLS, beautifully constructed and the nav screen is better integrated than in any other new-age Mercedes.
I was also allowed to start it up and I think it's fair to say, if you like the sound of AMG's, theres nothing to worry about with a deep, burbly and very loud sound. Nothing about it appeared to be contrived, fake or muted. As good as the 6.2? Without a side by side comparison it's hard to tell and I suspect it would always come off second best in such a comparison but in isolation, it sounded great to me.

It's worth going just to look around MB world at brooklands, new car or not.
Some lovely stuff on show in the building.
Yea, but I can go on the weekends, during the day in the week if i'm off work. Some lovely stuff on show in the building.
I really wish mercedes world was a bit further towards the centre of the country. I've been twice, I love the place - but the location is a pain.
Not many attended so we more or less had the place to ourselves. This was the S which is coming before the "standard" model. I thought it usually the other way around. Impressive looking, a bit Aston love-in at the rear, and lovely interior. They've shoe-horned the two turbos inside the Vee and you can see them on top (not hidden by covers). Nice exhaust note - they even started her up thee times whilst I was there. Ceramic brakes are going to be a costly extra.
I'm thinking the SLS coupe is more impressive looking but this view may change later.
