Probably a strange one. Have a car sized garage but have washing machine and some other stuff at the back of it. Maximum length car I can fit in there is 4 metres also I prefer small cars anyway. So far my list consists of:

lotus elise
abarth 500
lotus exige
bmw i3 - fun part might be an issue here?
mx5

bmw z4 is 4.09 meters any good, otherwise the elise is best of the bunch for fun, however it has no practicality

So it is too long but by nowhere near as much as I thought. hehe

There seems to be an amazing number of smallish sports cars which are between 4m and 4.1m long.

Worth noting that the current Exige is too long, too.

Phase 2 Clio V6 is 3841mm in length. Lots of fun. Also an appreciating asset.

To be honest I think the OP has already thought about the "best" small car he could get.

Lotus Elise without a shadow of doubt! If he can afford one, go for it....
I have owned two & loved every single minute of owning them!

TVR s series or griffith, the chimp is 15mm too long frown

Both would be a lot of fun smile

Is it to be a daily or a second car?

Surely this is the best answer so far? Fun, RWD, 15cm of space to spare to make it easier to get in the garage and a cast-iron investment.

Fisher Fury, pref bike-engined and spyder body. Yes I'm biased, but it's 3.25m long leaving you space to tinker - and oh so very much fun wink
