Short service interval - 8k miles - is this right??

Jumped in the wifes pug 4007 this morning, ping, service required.
I only had it serviced in March!!! I doubled checked the invoice this morning and I was correct, biggish service in March this year and 8k miles ago.
Can anyone tell me why this would be such a short service interval?? its just done 95k miles. Is it a plan to extract more money from us??

You're able to set the intervals, yours may not be set correctly, it should also have been showing you a countdown when you turn the ignition on too..
