Having dirty thoughts about getting a French hot hatch
Discussion
Specifically a Megane R26 or Clio Trophy.
Having never gone French before, am I asking for trouble? I've owned a number of Japanese and German cars without too many problems, and now I'm tempted to sell the 350Z for something a bit more lively on B-roads.
The Clio Trophy and Megane R26 are the stand out options for me. It's for a weekend car, so I don't mind a cheap feeling cabin and accept that a few things go wrong on 7-10 year old cars. My worry with these is that everything is expensive as they are difficult to work on, are they a continuous source of problems or are they actually ok to live with?
The Megane will have the straight line pace I am used to, whilst the Clio will offer a bit more fun. I know the Clio dampers need an expensive rebuild every so often, and cambelt changes on both are pricey, but are there any other big bills in them?
