Just about to order some new, more supportive seats for my TVR. I was impressed with the quality of the vinyl I saw in the showroom (couldn't tell it from leather by eye) but I'm undecided whether to pay the extra 50% and have leather facings. The car only does 4,000 miles a year and hope to do a few track days next year.

Any guidance much appreciated.

Vinyl is super sweaty and uncomfortable in summer. Seat backs and door cards fair enough, but you don't want to sit on it.

Thanks MD, I wondered about the summer heat effect, particularly as it'll have the roof off most of the time.

If you're going to have the roof off, I'd go for either cloth or alcantara. In my experience both leather and vinyl get unpleasantly hot in direct sunlight. Leather is better than vinyl, though.
