I will be leaving my car overnight at the dealers next week. Besides the obvious things like take all valuables, what other precautions should I take? For example of anything does happen to the car will there insurance cover it or is it up to mine?

If it's a main franchised dealership their insurance should cover the vehicle. What car is it?

If you're particularly concerned you could ask them to lock the car in the workshop over night...

Take pictures before leaving it in case it's damaged while there.

Anything left at our dealership is locked up inside. We'd never even think of leaving a customers car outside!

Dont have a choice, need the car stone cold for testing. They wont have my keys as they don't need the car until I turn up the next morning to accompany the technician for a test drive.

The dealer will be insured so just leave the car and let them get on with it.

Don't forget to read it a bedtime story before tucking it up and kissing it goodnight

A BMW M is a lovely car but it's not a priceless classic racer, just take out your valuables and take a note of the mileage, simple.

Dealerships are pretty secure, about 6 years ago the night before I picked up my M3 saloon, I drove to the dealer to stare at it through the window while it was in the showroom handover area. Got about 3 mins before a booming voice came from some hidden speakers telling me to get lost hehe

You'd think so right?

On crimewatch 2 weeks ago they were featuring car theft and apparently most high end cars are stolen from main dealerships overnight!

Out of all the BMW M cars stolen in the last quarter 56% were taken from main dealerships eek
