Bluefin does it work?
Discussion
Hello all
Been considering sending to superchips for a Bluefin system for my wifes Mk2 Kuga 163ps on a 13 plate. would anyone recomend it? would anyone not recommend it? and how easy are they to fit and set up yourself? apologies if this has been a thread in the past, but I can't be holed looking through to see lol!
cheers in advance for any advice

I bought one for my 1.6T Corsa taking it from 150bhp standard to somewhere around 200bhp (hasn't been on a dyno yet). It made a noticeable difference with the car pulling noticeably better and it did actually improve my fuel economy when I drive sensibly.
I'd say it's well worth the money, having only paid £320.

I recently Bluefin remapped my 200hp Mondeo 2.0 Ecoboost. I've yet to dyno it but I'd say horsepower has increased to somewhere between 240 and 260bhp. It has given the car a noticable increase in power output and it's much more torquey with a nice smooth power delivery. It's rather rapid for a Mondeo!
I would recommend it. Superchips have been around for years and are a well established and well regarded tuning company, and I've not really read anything negative surrounding their Bluefin units. I'd say go for it, just be aware that it'll put more strain on your clutch, DMF and possibly injectors as well if the engine is already quite "highly-strung" (I'm not really familiar with Ford's diesel units so much).

I guess it depends why you want it.
If it's for the extra power, then it's up to you whether it's worth it (22bhp for £320 - not great value to me).
If it's for the fuel consumption, then you need to work out how long it'll take to recoup the cost (plus taking into account the likely extra insurance premium).
I take it it's out of warranty?

You won't really see increased fuel consumption - it just won't go down unless you're hoofing it everywhere as a result of your new-found horsepower
It's just a fairly conservative (safe) map for increased power.

I dunno. The increased torque will be useful. People often pay more to remap naturally aspirated engines and gain about 4.5hp, too.

£15 per additional BHP If it's for the extra power, then it's up to you whether it's worth it (22bhp for £320 - not great value to me).

Let's take the Golf R c£32k new with 300bhp that's £107per bhp
Some people remove perfectly servo able exhaust systems to replace with ones promising a touch more power maybe 5bhp at most they seem happy to pay for that

Also, a Revo stage 1 remap for that Golf R works out at very slightly less than £8 per HP.
Personally, I'd always go for a proper custom rolling road map where one is available. Failing that, one from one of the big specialist tuners, and failing that a Bluefin.
