Noticed that these have dropped significantly since last time I look at them, quite a tempting buy for good money!

Is there any obvious reason why they've dropped? Or just the latest fluctuation victim?

It's a mass-produced Ford. They won't hold their value like an RS, and the imminent release of the new model probably doesn't help either.

Edit: Thought you were talking about the current model. However, the above still stands, with the addition of the fact that they're known for being thirsty and in a high tax band when compared to cars such as the mkV Golf GTi.

It'll be 10 years old next year, and it's the pre facelift of the old shape. It's not a car that the masses will seek out, due to them having palpitations when they check road tax and insurance costs. I think the facelifts are still holding decent money.

Having said all that, I think it would be a good buy for people in the know and who can accept the running costs. It's a nice colour (subjective I know), top spec and low mileage, and that Volvo engine is solid as well as that addictive 5 cylinder warble. And also when you see the prices some people are asking for the facelift "asbo" orange ones for essentially the same car, it makes this one a bargain!

I remember my local dealer knocking these out at £15k around the time of the facelift. Even a new one, which lacks this one's key selling point, is only about £17k.

Close to 40% of new price after eight years doesn't seem that cheap to me, which is not to say it isn't worth having if it's what you're after.
