Hi,

I have recently had my clutch done on Peugeot 307 HDI.

When my car is not in gear it makes this screeching noise that is really annoying.
when clutch is pushed in, the noise disappears.
When car is driving in gear the screeching noise comes back.

does anyone know what this issue could be?

Thanks

thanks for that.

Is this a full clutch refit to replace?

No, but it may as well be because it is in the clutch housing and requires all the labour to do the job that a clutch change requires. I would want to know why it wasn't changed at the time, or failing that, if it was it's a warranty claim.

I actually got the "New Part" off a friend for "mates rates" that works at euro car parts.

looks like he has tried mugging me off..

Plan of attack is.. get money off him for re doing of labour and new bearing or back to euro parts to get him a nasty bking and compo.. lol

Thanks for info guys.

So what did you ask for when you bought the clutch? If you weren't specific and just asked for a clutch, then that's probably what you got.

Does it have a DMF (dual mass flywheel)? They are damned expensive if they go.

Before you hang your "friend" out to dry why not go to whoever did the job?

Yea they do, that's why I thought I made a good move getting it cheaper the RRP.

This is the part I received from a "Friend" at half price.. thought I was in for a great deal!

but now it seems I'm going to have to get the whole labour side done again due to it been faulty bearing or what ever.. typical...

Haha, yea I will be doing that before I hang him out. but what else could have happened? all the parts were there and the guy who fitted it didn't say anything like "I haven't bothered changing the bearing"

when I received the part I questioned my "Friend" if it was new as I had a feeling it was semi used as I noticed a few things like, quality of box and muck within bolt package.

is there anything else it could be besides the Clutch Release bearing?

No Tim I requested the below part.
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Peugeot_307_2.0_...

but then I received the below Valeo which is a more expensive part so I was happy with it, box looked a bit tatty however no visible damage to parts as I said above. I was reassured this was a new part.

Question is what do I do now because I'm left with a screeching car and out of pocket... I just need to guarantee this is the fault :/

It does, I have spoken with Euro Parts and they assured me it does come with Release Bearing (which I also saw with my own eyes)

I suspect you are going to make a total arse of getting the best outcome from this... I predict one less mate, a lot of agro, and a peugeot with a noisey clutch.

Exactly what I'm thinking. obviously not a "mate" if he is mugging me of with parts like that and well I dont fancy forking out for another refit of the duel mas flywheel why should I?

ive spoken to the mechanic that fitted the clutch, he has parts and box still. he is very reliable and has assure me he fitted the clutch.

just another quick question.. the release bearing was fitted and it seems a duff bearing (hence the noise) is there any chance this could break during driving or is the noise the worst of my worry's?

If you're mechanic is trust worthy I would suggest a faulty part. If the parts were "old" (i.e. returned to ECP as faulty and supplied to you as new) any decent mechanic would have noticed and smelled a rat.

Time to talk to ECP.

I asked the mechanic about that he said he thought It was just that I had a look around the box to ensure everything was there. The parts did look new however there were little signs. I still have the box so ECP should be able to tell if it was a faulty return shouldn't they?

firstly I'm going to have a word with this "Mate" and then if he doesn't resolve it I will go back to ECP.

anyone else think I should play it different? (I aren't forking out for another labour charge for flywheel conversion)
