Rush hour Friday evening in Cheltenham. Imagine a conventional traffic light controlled 4 way junction. Note - no yellow box.

See the diagram below. The road was blocked initially, then the lights went red leaving a couple of us in the middle of the junction As the road cleared, lights still red, have a guess what the Magenta car did?

No idea. Of more interest, what car have you bought this week?

Stayed where they were?

Tried to reverse back?

As I've just had time to run through a dummy theory test with my other half I'll now answer.

The moron stayed there. When a few horns started to sound he pointed at the red repeater light, and firmly refused to move. Madness.

PS - I've not bought a new car this week. It would be nice to drive the car that I bought 3 weeks ago and once they fix it I may have chance. I have in a fit sold our third car at the wrong time so in the meantime Mr Hertz is liking me. I'm not liking that the upgrade I'm supposed to get never seems to happen though.

I might buy a car next week.

Happens all the time. If it's the daftest driving (or lack of) that you've seen then you're doing well.

I spend more times on trunk roads than city centres....

At that time then you would not get home.

so your saying he would be stuck for ever more in the wilds of Cheltenham ? Bit of a stretch?

so anything more to add to this riveting tale? other than someone did something that has been forgotten about by most people involved in this little "incident" of the modern world, maybe you should get a dash cam!

This is what the internet was invented for, those inventor guys must be so proud............

Well maybe until rush hour died down. Some bad traffic light management meant that this queue was always going to be in the way when lights were green, so going across was the only way to make progress.

I had forgotten - then someone posted something on here that reminded me.
