HI, as per title, I want a car which can comfortably tow the other car to the track (lotus) and be a daily drive if needed. I want a car which gives the feeling of a nice place to be. Possibly 4 wheel drive as I live in the sticks and added peace of mind when the weather turns bad. I've put ML and R class as they are both nice inside, but open to suggestions. And I've indicated bigger engines as they should be better at towing duties. Budget around 10k (can stretch a bit).

I've had a latest shape legacy tourer last year, 2.0 diesel 62 plate, but did not feel as tough as I was expecting (I've had an old shape legacy which felt better).

SO: any horror story on ML and R? I've seen they score pretty bad on the warrantywise (or similar) surveys, but not sure if it is a sign of more people insuring this type of car as opposite to a "very reliable and rarely insured" honda jazz (for example) or if they are actually s**te.
I've looked at Nissan Patrol and Toyota Amazon (land cruiser) but they are really big, and seem not to be much better on the said surveys, despite a very good reputationconfused

I don't need a great driver car, I have other cars for that wink

cheersbeer

Yes on the B+E, I know the Octavia is a good car, but "cannot" like it, it does not seem to age well frown but thanks for the suggestion!

Hmm, any for sale around your budget are really high mileage, the only experience I have of that engine is my dad's s-type's turbos disintegrating at 85k... Still a fantastically competent car, the disco, when it works
