SORNing a car currently taxed

Just trying to do this from now and get the refund for November onwards but the SORN date on the Gov web site is showing as 1st October 2014 but not todays date. If I wait until 1st Nov presume I'll lose 1 months refund.
Never SORN'd the Griff before but don't use it during the winter so want to get some cash back.

Yes if you wait till 1st November you will also loose Novembers Tax refund.
