Morning Guys,
Got a question regarding Road Tax which I hope someone can help with.
I'm selling my car and I have recieved a deposit for it however the buyer cannot pick the car up until next Sunday 2nd November, now I know that Road Tax does not transfer to a new owner under the new rules as of 1st October, but my problem is my own Car Tax runs out on 31st October this Friday night.

Now I don't want to tax the car for 1 day which would be Saturday 1st November and then get a refund as I would lose a whole month i've paid for.

My questions are:

1) Can I sorn the car for 1 day being Saturday 1st November, and then when the buyer collects the car on Sunday he taxes it there and then?
2) Is there a minimum SORN length?

3) Can I leave not taxing/sorning my car and hope the DVLA don't realise for 1 day that the car isn't taxed or sorn and is sort of in Limbo?
4) Would it be a good idea that when the buyer comes on Sunday we backdate the V5 logbook 1day to the Saturday to say we sold it that day instead?

I've tried ringing the DVLA this morning for SORN enquiries and I was on hold for over 20 minutes and I can't be away from my desk any longer!
Thanks Steve

Just SORN it, the tax effectively ends at point of sale anyway so it's exactly the same effect for the buyer; a SORN declaration also expires at point is sale.
