About time I get something with a bit of power. What would the Pistonheads community recommend for around the £3k mark?

I need something reliable, that can handle abuse.

Current ideas.. Lexus LS430, Clio 172 (phase 1), Civic type R

Fabia vRS mk1, a 300 quid remap will see off a type r pretty easily. Oh and 50-60mpg biggrin

Would it really see off a type r? 130 bhp standard, say 160 with a remap? Suppose they are much lighter and very torquey.

Haha, well mine, i'm lead to believe is standard when i bought it, but after a track day with some mates, it was quicker than my mates 170hp mk2 mr2 and kept up with, maybe even edged the civic type r! So i'm now thinking its stage 1 mapped lol. p.s. this was only on the straights, they had a slight edge in the corners as mine is on stock suspension. Oh and the torque is ridiculous! 230 ibft ish stock or 300 ibft stage 1, have seen wheelspin in 4th in the wet!

They certainly are!

Hope the new owner looks after it as they're getting scarce!

Far more amusing than a 'fast diesel'

There is nothing wrong with diesels at all. They have immense torque, you need to see what dark side developments do. There work is astonishing.
