So how many cars did you spot on the way home from work today with no lights on! I counted 6 cars and one bike! Plus countless people with day running lights on only not the dipped beam meaning faint rear lights.

Today I was at home. There was a car on my driveway without lights on though.....

If I've got just DRLs on my rear lights aren't "faint". They're not on at all.

But don't forget the main beam and foglight brigade...

A 206, he had on the nearside, no headlight, sidelight, or fog light.

To compensate, on the offside he had, main beam, sidelight, and fog light.

Surprisingly I've seen none tonight, but loads of them over the last week.

Killer is new cars. My headlamps come on and dials illuminate with my ignition. Rear lights don't.

With the road lit ahead and the dashboard lit up like an Xmas tree it's very easy not to realise that your lights aren't actually switched on and no one can see your arse.

No cars, but one bike. On the M3. In rush hour. Filtering.

If you could brief us the evening before it would help in knowing what sort of misdemeanours we were looking out for/counting wink

I don't think they ever managed to make a 206 with all of the lights working properly - they're hopeless.

Same but tonight I noticed that the dark has meant they are now travelling at half the speed they were on Friday. It's been a while since I've overtaken so many cars on the way home.

Couldn't agree more! The difference inside my new car between lights on and DRL's is a single green light on the dash. DRL's need to be combined with automatic headlights, or just not have them activate the dash lights unless full headlights are on.

Saw a new-ish. Peugeot on the m1 today, with font lights, instrument lights but no rear lights at all.

As said, curse of the modern car.

Saw a few cars on the way home tonight with just DRLs on and therefore no rear lights at all.

It's odd that a car modern enough to be littered with LEDs doesn't have light-sensitive 'automatic' headlights.

Good habit I think you'll find. Defensive driving. Far too many idiots on the road!
