New (used) car, three days free insurance. But wait, just get a no obligation quote from us first for a full year's insurance to follow on, while we validate the three free days.

25 minutes later after lots of questions.....

'So sorry for wasting your time, it's coming out at £1450.'

Probably one of the best stories I've ever heard. Will Spielberg give you royalties?

I'm willing to sell the story for only £1450.

I was more bothered about the 25 minutes on the phone to be honest. Didn't realise the 'free insurance' was going to be a trick to try and sell me something else....

Naivety at its finest. Nothing comes for free these days without some kind of catch.

Seriously? Where is the trick, you spent 25 minutes to get a quote which was not at the right price for you. You would spend around the same time to complete a form online for confused or the meerkat mob so what is the difference?

Meerkat people will give you 50 quotes. The 'free insurance' just gave me one, from one insurer (not a broker).

No, I'm sure they just do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Of course they did, they are the insurance company underwritting the 3 days insurance risk, why would they promote someone else's product?
You do realise the meerkat people get a commission from the companies they quote, they don't do it out of the goodness of their hearts.
