Mimic X2 smartphone control?
Discussion
Has anyone tried the Mimic X2 Iphone/Android interface/controller?

I'm tempted by it, as my iPad installation isn't going according to plan due to space constraints, but this could work with a double-din mounted touchscreen.
I'm just a little unsure about blowing a few hundred quid on an unknown

What exactly do you want out of the system?
The Pioneer AppRadio series might be of interest to you.
It's been a great solution for me and I have been using it for over 1.5 years now.
My Android phone (Galaxy Note) is mirrored and I can use all my apps/watch videos etc. Waze for the daily commute is the best! But when I am waiting for someone (parked obviously) I watch YouTube videos or films etc.
If you are interested in the AppRadio solution check out the development thread:

The XDA link has some great videos to give you an overview of what the 'unlocked' software can do. I believe it is exactly what you are looking to do.

The sat-nav software I use isn't supported by AppRadio, and there's a few other apps which would be 'nice to have' on the display which also aren't supported.
I'm also toying with some other aspects of iDevice integration which couldn't easily be done plugging it straight into a headunit, so a simple plug-and-play solution like the AppRadio or Sony's AppRemote don't cover (and fwiw, Sony's AppRemote seems to have zero apps available for iOS 8)
I believe the MirrorLink and AppRadion on Android allows mirroring. I don't believe that's the case with the iPhone, and especially not touch-screen control.
I'm a tinkerer, and just like doing things differently, even if it's not necessarily the easiest way, or the way that many people think there's much point to

With the XDA 'AppRadio Unchained' mod the satnav app you want to use will work. In fact any Android app in the world will be displayed on your screen because it mirrors your phone. Even if you don't have an Android phone you can use an 'Android Stick PC'. MirrorLink and AppRadio allow 'full mirroring' and your right, the iPhone solution does not (only allowing the Pioneer compatible apps).I'm also toying with some other aspects of iDevice integration which couldn't easily be done plugging it straight into a headunit, so a simple plug-and-play solution like the AppRadio or Sony's AppRemote don't cover (and fwiw, Sony's AppRemote seems to have zero apps available for iOS 8)

Just found this thread. I have been interested in the AppRadio Unchained "hack" to fully mirror my phone's screen onto the Pioneer headunits.
Am I right in thinking that early on in the program, it allowed landscape viewing but after an update from Android (I think), the Unchained hack did not subsequently work with making the screen landscape?
Basically, I want to buy the headunit and have full, landscape mirroring of my android phone on the screen. That would be fantastic. Any confirmation would be great.
