If speed does actually mater, then who is the fastest on PH, taking into account your land, water and air top speeds.

My score is: 241.5 MPH points

If you want to play, get your score using the following formula (worked example is my scores, add enough info to withstand calls of custard)

LAND: turn your top land speed straight into points:

160 mph - BMW M3 CSL = 160points

WATER: divide your top speed on water by a factor of 2 then turn into points

65 mph - Ring 19 - mercury XR2 = 65/2= 32.5 points

AIR: divide your top air speed by a factor of 20 then turn into points

580mph - Boeing 777 = 580/20= 29 points

BONUS: Finally, add 20 points for each of the above speeds where you where in control of the vehicle and not just travelling in it.

LAND: yes - 20 points

SEA: no - 0 points

AIR: no - 0 points

Total: 160 + 32.5 + 29 + 20 = 241.5 points

NOTES:

1. Any vehicle qualifies for your top speeds. You could choose a car, bike, train etc but remember your bonus points for bring in control of the vehicle.

2. Any airspeed qualifies, so if you have free dived from 25 miles up and experienced a sonic boom, you deserve to win!

3. I know it's complicated, but by using this formula it stops it just being a willy waving I've got the fastest car competition.

4. Judges verdict is final. Anybody with over 20,000 post count automatically qualifies as a judge, highest post count has the final say

5. Stop squealing like a bh (people who complain will be automatically referred to this note)

Anyone who's been on the maglev in China does well here I think.

Shanghai maglev - 268mph
Some stupid rib with a honking engine - 55mph
Standard large aircraft 560mph

268 + 55/2 + 560/20 = 323.5

Calling all judges, does a maglev count or is it 'flying'?

Judgment pending...

It's an excellent point. I would contend it classes as "ground transportation"...

If I need to go anywhere, I call SuperMan and he gives me a piggy back. We all know SuperMan is faster than a speeding bullet, and can run at around the speed of light and can fly from the Earth to the Sun in about 4 seconds according to one of the movies, so I win.
