Many times I have been driving along a narrow road and two cars come the other way. I stop and pull over, car one goes through. Car two decides to try and pull over as well so I can go through. It is a nice gesture but totally pointless, what are they thinking?

Also why when driving in the dark and I pull over to let someone through do they think it would be a good idea to fire the main beams at me. Again a nice gesture but not appreciated!

The only explanation I can see is that they don't trust in their abilities to go through the gap. So they stop as you might be happier to fit through a small gap.

It's the British need to queue, but without thinking about the actual practicality of it. NO, YOU GO FIRST, I CAN'T POSSIBLY.

The thing that drives me spud mental is when I pull in a street of parked cars to let someone coming the other way through and the grade 8 onanist in the car behind overtakes me because their tiny f^&*ing brain can't compute the fact that if they looked ahead they would understand why I had pulled over. Total f*&^tards.

I think its a British thing, to sometimes be gushingly courteous, even if it actually makes things more difficult. I have to admit, at night I flash headlights because they cannot see your "thank you" wave from inside the dark car. However I make sure its only momentary, I dont hold them on to burn the eye from the socket.

But at the end of the day, it's a nice problem to have tongue out

Also on most cars you can easily dim your headlights momentarily, i.e. go to sidelights, instead of flashing main beam.

Had not thought about the British aspect - you could be onto something there!

But, having let someone through, my warm glow at having done something nice turns swiftly to blind, murderous rage when the person you have let through doesn't have the goddamn common courtesy to give a wave of thanks.

Does annoy me a tad that too.

Yep, I do this to avoid blinding the other driver. It's probably at bit OTT but it's a nice gesture and I have the British need to be polite.
