Hi guys,

I just have a quick question regarding leasing/financing a car. I graduated from university in July and have recently started a new job on a graduate scheme earning a decent salary, my car seems to be having a load of problems so i'm looking to get rid of it as soon as possible. Through the company I work for I can get some really good offers when looking at financing a new car which seems like a good option (I dont really want opinions on financing/leasing and whether its worth it or not).

One of the issues is, ive just graduated so have 2 overdrafts and a credit card (CC is paid regularly) and thats the only real debt I have, according to Noddle my credit score is 3/5 which is supposed to fairly average. I know I can get new credit cards and the like but im not sure how car finance works, would I be eligible even though ive been working for this company for less than a month? The car im looking at is about 1/8th of my monthly salary and I dont really have much other outgoings at the moment so I know for a fact the repayments will be fine. Ive probably spent more on my own car in the past month.

Does anyone have any experience with this and know whether ive got a chance? Whenever I speak to the dealers they just wanna get you in there and sit you down, I just wanna know if im eligible and have a chance of being accepted, not have my ear twisted.

Thanks in advance

Decide which car you want then speak to the dealer or leasing company. Asking on here will just confuse you because we are all finance experts, and you will end you buying a house instead.

Yes you'll get finance, whether it's prime or knee-cap is something you'll only find out once you've had your ears bent by the salesman I'm afraid. To be honest, on a quiet day, I'd happily spend 5 minutes with you and firing the prop off to get some feed-back for you.
On a busy day I'd take a few details and get back to you later. To do this, though, you'd need to pick a specific vehicle, deposit and term.
Bit of advise...don't EVER walk into a showroom and let your first gambit be "I want to know if I can get the finance". You'll be launched out quicker than an Ebola-carrying suicide bomber.

Just spend a grand on something serviceable until you dont have 2 overdrafts and a credit card ?

car finance is one of the easier things to get especially if a deposit is involved, even if it's a dealer contribution
you are leasing a car, so if you don't make your payments, they can come along and take their car back easy as anything, and so long as you are still employed they can chase you for any short fall + plus hundreds in fees.
