Which of these 'mid-range' tyres for my E46
Discussion
I've got ZV5s on my 156 GTA and they're a good tyre for the price (I think I paid £60 odd a corner from Camskill). The second best tyre i've owned after Conti Contact Sport 5s.
My brother had a Rainsports on his Clio 197 and said they were brilliant in the wet but didn't mention much more than that tbh.

Good evening,
Appreciate this isn't a like for like comparison, but a few years ago when running my E46 Coupe, i put a set of Avon ZZ3's, clocking up around 10k miles before selling the car.
Don't know if the tyres you mention are an evolution of sorts from this tyre, but my experience was good. Low noise level, and while i never tracked the car, i still enjoyed driving enthusiastically in all weathers and thought performance was good.
Regards
Ben

I know these arent on the list but someone maybe able to compare them,
I had falken 452's on my e46 saloon and many people on e46zone had positive things to say about them, I especially liked them, They have a fairly stiff side wall which bodes well on a fairly heavy car with a bit of a roll to it, Which is how i would describe a standard e46.
What the ze's are like im not too sure, I understand 452's have now been discontinued.

I see Falken FK452 mentioned above and they are very good, but I don't think you'll find them now, they've been replaced by the FK453 which I know little about.
I have Michelin Pilot Sport 3s on my E46 328i and I've got nothing but praise for them, brilliant in the dry, good in the wet and quiet to boot but they are £75 a corner in my 205/55R16. What size are you looking at? Apart from price, this also influences tyre performance.
Uniroyal RS2 and RS3 are a very impressive tyre and if wet grip is your primary concern, hard to go wrong there. I put a pair on the front of my mum's Mk3 Mondeo and it could do with some matching ones on the back to restore some balance in wet cornering!

The Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on the back of our Peugeot inspire confidence - more so than the Falken 91-somethings on the front.
If they're available in your fitment, how about the Falken FK453? On the BMW, I prefer them to the Continental Sport Contact 3's I had before.

Best tyres on the back please....Edited by S. Gonzales Esq. on Monday 3rd November 23:47
I am a big fan of Vredestein Quatracs but you dont say what size and I would think about £90 a corner so maybe too much.
One thing I tend not to skimp on is tyres.
Try local back street tyre places, I use an agricultural tyre fitter who gives comparable deals to online.
Google Tyreleader and get your local place to compete.

I have had Toyo T1 Sports on my Mustang for the past two years (its remarkably light on tyres if you swap front to back every 5k) they have consistently outperformed the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's in all aspects.
A Friend of mine is running a set of Toyo T1 Sport SUV tyres on her F150 and they have been doing a sterling job on that as well, so they would be my recommendation
Can't really say about road noise (they were quieter than the Good Years) as my car is totally polly bushed so the NVH is much higher than normal anyway.

I use the Kumho KU39 as the summer tyres on my Impreza and have had no issues with them. However I swopped the wheels at weekend for a set fitted with Vredestein winter tyres. Consequently I have no idea what the Kumhos are like in cold damp conditions.
If you want to keep moving and don't have the space to store another set of wheels year round, then go with Vredestein Quatracs.
