I have only just moved from Scotland to Wiltshire a couple of months ago and I have seen a lot of Jaguar/Land Rover products on my travels (I'm a taxi driver) with red on white 5 figure numberplates, I am assuming that they are testing as some of them have half camouflage on them. In the last month I have seen numerous new discovery's, some nice f-type coupes (including one really nice one this morning with a Black Shelby like stripe and pop up spoiler) and a few evoques/rangeys, my question is though why Wiltshire?, it seems a bit far from their factories, I tend to start seeing them in Melksham and have followed a few from Trowbridge down the A350 through Westbury and just losing them on the A36 towards Salisbury.

I can't answer you but I have also seen a lot of "half taped up jags" on what looks like trade plates in the area. Usually two or three car convoys.

If they have number plates that begin with OU14 or OV14 (and there are a couple of others I can't remember), they're probably development cars on mileage accumulation. Test drivers will take cars out and drive around certain circuits for hours a day to rack the test mileage up.

If they aren't covered in camo then it's likely to be features like gearbox/engine configurations, infotainment testing (satnav etc) or any number of other things.

If they are camo'd, then it's probably a facelift version of whatever car it is you see. Lots of 4wd F-types running around that have the bumper and the bonnet taped up - http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Searc...

There's an accelerated weathering lab in Swindon that Jaguar (& LR) apparently use.

The plates are like trade plates but are 5 digit numbers starting 18 or 19, most are half taped up so I wouldn't assume that they are going to a dealership, I have seen one new discovery on an OU14 reg, I am assuming then that they do the run as some kind of circuit as it is always between 9am and 10am that I see them
