I keep mulling the following situation over, without managing to work out wether it's a daft idea or not.
For a variety of real and practical reasons, a twin cab 4x4 is a must as our family car.
We have run hiluxs for the last 12 years.
Typically we buy them new, and replace after 3 years, circa 60k miles ((reliability and few trips to the garage are very important to me, and I like the security of warranty, and dislike paying on repairs). I did keep one for 7 years, 170k miles.

However, I wonder about keeping our present vehicle for 6 years, and buying a fun car three years into ownership to go alongside. I'd guess at a budget of 20-25 k, with potential vehicles being 911, Bentley gtc, or an Aston.

The fun car would ideally be reliable enough to do my wife's work run in the summer, and family trips at weekends. Ideally it would neither depreciate too much, nor cost an excessive amount to keep in good order.

Are the presumed / hoped for financial benefits of keeping the hilux (which is paid for), for another three years likely to contribute much to the fun car?
