Just bought a cheap S2000, sorting a few things out, ready for some track days etc.

Just replaced the worn rear tyres (falcon 452's) with some Vredestein ultrac's.

To my horror, I just noticed the almost new tyres on the front which I assumed where the Falcon's as well are in fact made by "Sagitar" ??

I have never heard of these before, would I be right in thinking these should go straight in the bin, and put some Vredestein or similar on the front?

Or are Sagitar decent tyres, and I've just never heard of them before?

Cheers

A quick search shows that they're produced by the Qingdao Hongtyre Group. I'm going to guess that they're not brilliant...

I'll go with that. Take it out for a spin in the wet and see how much understeer you get.

If they're the same size I'd swap the fronts with the rears and go drifting at a track/skidpan ... may as well have some slidy fun before binning them

Are they black and round?

If you are going to skip them, then put them on the back and see if they'll outlive your clutch.

Try them. There's no point in replacing them unless you're personally unhappy with the way they perform.

Slippery when wet would be my guess.

We've got some brand called solus? on our post vans, they are st.

It pissed down all morning and driving around rural lanes doing under 30 and they just slide over mud and fallen leaves if you dare touch the brake pedal.

You need to get out more, or at least get away from the PH fishbowl. The only thing horrific about the situation is your overreaction.

hard summer tyres on a rear wheel drive sports car going into winter probably isn't a good mix though?

Very highly strung sports car run by someone whose only concern was that everything was as cheap as possible? Probably had MegaSkillz to match. I hope it was very, very well priced.

Good luck, of course, but be as wary as possible.

Simon.

Or the PO knew he would be selling it soon so stuck some cheap tyres on because he knew he would never get his money back?

S2000's are very sensitive to tyres, so try to get something with a stiff sidewall.

When I changed from Toyo T1R's to 'extra load' Eagle F1's the difference was night and day. I put the Eagle F1's on prior to a 'ring trip and they more than paid for themselves.

I certainly wouldn't run a S2000 on dichfinders, they're unpredictable enough on good tyres!

Loads of info on s2ki, so have a good read and get the most from what can be a great car.. smile
