This will upset a few people...£35,000 mk Rs2000 xpack.....
Discussion
So....don't get me wrong, I'm a big classic Ford fan (although they do carry a somewhat iffy status especially here in SW London). Mk1 Mexicos, Rs 2000's, BDA Rs1600's etc...they really float my boat. I even like the 'shark' nosed Mk2 Rs2000. However, the MK2 Rs2000 Xpack here...IMO....really doesn't age well. It looks like a kitted up MK2 and although I know it is the holy grail of MK2's it look bloody awful.
oh yes.....£35,000......

Some one will buy it.
Objectively of course it's not worth, but subjectively, to someone who lusted after one in the late 70's, early 80's it'll be a bargain.
Sure £35k seems like bonkers market, but let's say the market stays on its current trend for another 5 years, that's a 50k car easy.
I know some will say it's a bubble, and perhaps they're right, but with cars like that,I think they are a relativey safe investment.

The closest I ever got back in the day was a signal orange 1600 Sport and I loved it!

Have to agree though for anyone not brought up with these it looks a monster

£15k restoration he says, so even if he made his money back on that the car is worth £20k? hmmmm
non x-pack car is better looking.
Also, maybe I'm a fussy git but its sort of in nomansland - not a OE rebuild so the guys who like stock rebuilds won't like it, but if you go the other way its a bit too stock for those who'd like to see a speced up engine, slip diff, maybe even a rollcage etc. Its a bit halfway house, nothing that can't be fixed, granted.. but £35k ?

It says in the ad it has "all the series X goodies" so it should have 'a specced up engine' and 'slip diff' (LSD) amongst other things like a quick rack, vented discs, long range tank etc non x-pack car is better looking.

50k for something with a boat anchor up front and a Fred Flintstone axle at the back?
Yeah why not?The mistake people are making here is judging the cars value by how good it may or may not be. That has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Supply and demand, if there are more buyers than cars the price will go up. If a magazine runs an article and creates a bit of interest, the price will go up. If a TV show includes one, it'll create interest and the price will go up.
I'm not a fan of these particularly, but look at the facts, 70-80's fast Fords are golden, they only go up in value to a greater or lesser degree.

LOL !!!!
I like it for what it is - but anyone would surely have to be nuts to think you can't buy a better car for £35k ?
Maybe it's a £15k car with £20k scene tax ?
Of course you can buy a better car for £35k, hell you can buy a better car for £500, but that has nothing at all to do with it.I like it for what it is - but anyone would surely have to be nuts to think you can't buy a better car for £35k ?
