Evening All,

I'm 6ft 4 and have long legs; I drive an A4 and my seat is pushed as far back as it goes. We've just had a second baby and I'm struggling to accommodate a second car seat behind me. Up until now I coped as number 1 sat on the passenger side, now number 2 needs to sit behind me and I can't fit in without having to move my seat forward.

I've tried a newish 5 series estate this weekend, it was the best I've found yet space wise. A volvo V70 was really disappointing, and the Mondeo not as good as the 5 series.

What else is available that I've missed? Don't say Zafira, I think I'd cry.

I tried this a few days ago in a Skoda Superb. With the driver's seat set up for me (6'2) I could also sit behind with ample, ample legroom.

i'm 6ft 3, and I feel your pain.

Try to avoid sunroof options where possible, this will usually help a lot! (they put a lower roof liner to contain the whole blind/motor mechanism between the liner and the metal roof).

I have no trouble in, say, a BMW X5. As you know, half of it is about not banging your head on the way in/out!

This. I remember reading there's not much with more rear legroom than a Superb.

E class is big, but even so 6 foot 4 and modern car seats will be tight

I'm 6' 3.75", long in the leg and fit fine in the new 3 series.
My daughter is 5' 6" and fits behind me ok.

I wasn't aware of this. Just looking online it looks massive in the back! How was the drive? I'll go and have a look at one tomo. Prices seem fairly reasonable

I've been avoiding sunroofs for some time - it's amazing how much space they take out

Kiddy seats are the problem I think.

Never driven one, but they're meant to be good. IIRC there's so much legroom because it's based on the Chinese-market LWB VW Passat.

I believe so, I'm just going on the surmise that kids in seats, although their feet stick out they don't stick out as far as a 5' 6" persons knees.

Having had previous shape 3 series and a previous 5 series, I was very surprised just how big the new 3 is!

Yep - that's it. Mate has new 3 series - it's great up front for me but there's only a few inches between back of my seat and front of the rear seat. My car is the same.

The first phase baby rear facing seats stick out a mile and then once the little ones are out of that they face forward in seats so large they can't bend their knees - so by two and a bit they're poking into the back of the front seat. And that's my problem. It hadn't occurred to me whilst we only had the one, but it's a pain in the backside now

You say you have long legs - you must be bereft of a torso.

Thanks, I'll look at these to. I always had them down as lacking interior wise (I've had large turbo'd Jap imports in the past). No bad thing in a rocket ship but i'll be doing quite a few miles in it at a more sedate pace. What are they like?
