Great pics in the OP

I have a hunch that we will not see anyone selecting current cars from WRC in this thead which speaks volumes about how dull it is and has been that way for some time.

My £ is on the 205 T16

I agree on what you said about dull modern rally cars.
And thanks.

Audi for me..

But,have you actually seen one of the new breed of rally cars driving flat out in the flesh so to speak?.
A lot lot faster than the group b cars, loud and great to watch.

I have seen them at shows, I do love the new fiesta sound and the turbo spool it makes, is just amazing!
But I have seen all the 80's stuff and that sounds, looks and performs amazingly, the new cars are just modified hatchbacks.

I ought to say the Stratos, but I've got a grudging respect for what the Mini did back in the day. Punching well above its weight.

I have to admit that the 205 T16 for so many reasons:

1) For being one of the more prominent GpB cars to actually spawn/influence one of the best hot hatches (205 GTi)
2) For the successes outside GpB (Dakar?)
3) It's a beautiful bit of engineering.

All the GpB cars are fantastic, shame the 6R4 was developed with a typically british budget of £42.60, otherwise it might well be up there.

Love the 206 WRC for looks though

can't believe nobody has mentioned the Delta S4 with it's compound charging, it was ahead of it's time technically.
