Anyone that has had the misfortune of driving into Brighton since these muppets were, somehow, elected into control of Brighton and Hove City council will be acutely aware of what a complete balls up they have made of the roads.

Seemingly oblivious to any reasoning from the Infidels (car drivers to you and me, not to the Greens though) they're trying to push ahead with yet more of the [s]dump[/s] city being plagued by these 20mph limits, so ahead of the instigation of them they're having a public consultation......which they will ignore.

However, the Advertising standards Authority have taken a dim view of their campaign leaflets.

You'll have to excuse the extremely poor reporting, this is what we are subjected to with this p*ss poor excuse of a newspaper, but you'll get the point.

http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/11594848.Brighton_a...misleadingover_benefits_of_20mph_zones/

Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for 20mph speed limits..............outside schools for example. And that's about it. Sometimes you'd be grateful to get above 10mph in Brighton the way they've clogged it all up with bus lanes.

Greens, f*****g useless c**ts

Local elections next year, vote the useless muppets out. I was gutted when I went to the polls this year and it was only the euro elections in Brighton.

I don't stick to 20 limit, and noone else seems to. They are supposedly extending it up to where I live, but I don't care really. It makes no difference to congestion, Brighton in the centre is always congested to a degree. If they wanted to deal with congestion they could improve traffic light control and timings. There a couple of really bad spots, under the train line coming down from seven dials seems to be set up to intentionally cause disruption. Overall though it's not that bad, I don't find much reason to drive into the centre, and when you consider the small size of the city with it's population the congestion is only really bad at peak times.

What really annoys me about the green party is their desire to increase council tax by ridiculous percentages, at least the other parties join together to stop them. Also they wanted to cancel the speed trials but again the other parties united and told them to do one.

I've always felt 20mph limits are appropriate on smaller side-streets, perhaps where (as mentioned) there are schools, parked cars on either side, or pedestrian-heavy areas such as a high-street with lots of shops on both sides.

The blanket change of 30 into 20 is what causes people to ignore it.

I drove into Brighton during the half term coming in from the A23. The way the bus lanes, and traffic lights operate was shocking. Constant congestion, traffic jams trying to get through to the sea front. Must be easier ways to manage the flow.

Of course there are, the difference is they don't WANT you driving in. The shop owners do, the hotels and B&Bs do, the bars and restaurants do but the council don't. And they really are as simple as that.

It's a place I just don't go to anymore. They've made it awkward to drive to and even once you get there the car parking fees are shocking.

and that is precisely it. You are not alone. Which doesn't do the town any favours at all. "Catch the bus" they say, they're foul and extremely expensive!

I went down there a couple of weeks ago for the London to Brighton Run. Got down there nice and early to the NCP's near The Lanes. Get this- £18 to park for four hours! On principal I drove back out to Preston Park and walked a mile and a half back in. Perhaps I've done what they wanted. Maybe I'll just spend my money somewhere else next time I fancy a Sunday out...

Why is the council allowed to engage in propaganda?

At least the council over here in Belfast are more honest. They have openly said they want to make it wholly unattractive to drive into the city centre. Pity they didn't sort out decent public transport first.

I stupidly parked in a multistory there last summer on a weekend trip, 25 smackers for 5 hours in the city Centre, was in Eastbourne the year before 2.50 for a full day. I know where I'd go if I had a choice! Also took around an hour+ to leave the car park and get out the city, madness.

That lot really shouldn't be allowed.

They have to have a committee meeting to work out how to tie the organic hemp laces on their vegetarian shoes in the correct Green Party way.

They certainly talk no more rubbish than UKIP. hehe

It sets a significant precident becaues they seem to be saying that political campaigners have to be able to prove everything they claim. I doubt they could typically even prove 10% of it.

I particularly enjoyed this bit:

I'm sure I'm not. Are the local businesses voicing their displeasure at the place being turned into a local place for local people?

The green party have always been and always will be a joke. LIke most eco rubbish groups, thier idealistic ideas, although sometimes fairly noble and maybe I even agree with, are executed in a totally moronic way. Often thier plans are unrealistic, overly harsh or just not practical in our society.

Brighton is finding this out the hardway.

Hopefully people take notice as we wouldnt want the green party in charge of the country - look how theyve messed up ireland!

Hating on us "evil" car drivers without presenting any practical solutions just alienates the people.

Far left authoritarians. Pity, they have some principles I agree with, but I could never vote for them.
