Seen a car, based in Northern Ireland
But it has ROI plates on

What needs to be done for it in mainland UK
Insurance
Tax
MOT
registering UK plates etc.
Speedo conversions etc

just checked with online diretline and they confirm just to ring up and can insure with a vin/ chassis

next question is how long can i do that for as assume it will have to be uk taxed, mot, and to do that it would need to be on uk plates?

so it can be MOT on ROI plates?

can a MOT check history be done if had a MOT on ROI plates?

Will the car be fully insured with no MOT and Tax, even if insurance was bought?

Car will be MOT'd on chassis number.

ROI equivalent is NCT. Not sure if you can get historical data on it.

Car will be insured on chassis number. Not technically legal to drive on UK roads (as it won't be registered) but you'd probably be OK driving on ROI plates until the V5 comes back.

Cartell.ie provides a vehicle check for ROI registered cars... might be worth a look.

Also, just to through this into the mix. If you do 'export' the car to the UK you may be eligible for a VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) rebate.

i saw about the VRT rebate, but with ROI high charges doesn't make it worth while when I had a quick look/ play
