OK, so I've put a deposit down on my next car and should hopefully be picking it up next week which is great but my dilemma is this;
My RS6 Plus has a crack in the rear bumper and a slight dent in the tailgate where I (not so) cleverly reversed into a giant concrete pillar and I haven't had a chance to get it repaired yet, so I was wondering if I should fix the defects before selling or should I sell with the value of the repairs factored in?

I've also bought a new steering rack as the current one is leaking but again, haven't had a chance to pop up to MRC for them to replace it, so I could also factor thin in to the price.

Essentially there's £1700 worth of work to be done so would knock this plus a little more off for the inconvenience.

So what are your thoughts?

If you have the parts then I would have it fixed and then sell it as you would get a better price.

Just sold a Mini Clubman with a dented door, if the car is desirable it will sell. It could be the purchaser can get a better deal than you on the repair cost, ie trade contact, and that may seal the deal, as in my case. Worth a try anyway!

Yes, get repairs done...better chance of selling the car and above all...pass on the good karma to the new buyer; it's always better this way.

Hmmm, had a feeling that would be the consensus. It's just such an ache of the ball variety to have 2 cars on the drive and that also adds worry when I'm not around to keep an eye on it. Unfortunately I don't have a garage to store one of them until the RS is sold.

Is the best idea to get short term insurance for say a month or so while I'm trying to sell it?

Was quoted £500 at local bodyshop for repairs, got them done for £200 at Chips Away

It's not just a case of getting a better price. It's getting viewers and getting it sold which will be easier with a car described as good rather than needing repairs.
It will appear unloved and un cared for.
Coming up to Christmas/Mid winter will be a hard time to sell anyway.
No need to make it harder.

Unless selling to a trade/specialist then it may not matter but you will have to accept rock bottom price for the convenience.

Isn't karma an invention to sell ornaments to a load of suckers?
