I understand the joys of "wafting "along in a classic car appeal to some. I have a nippy little classic myself that doesn't do wafting as such but each to their own. What gets my goat is people who buy travesties like Rover 75s and potter about like they are being chauffeur driven, generally driving at say 20 in a 30, 30 in 50 etc etc. Older honda saloons, old 5 series beemers etc just seem to attract a certain style of driver and driving thats just bloomin frustrating to all stuck behind em. Or is it just me?

Exactly, which is why the Rover 75 is appreciated by all apart from non-enthusiasts. smile

Not exactly a classic , not even a great car, and usually in context when being driven annoyingly by someone who appears to believe they are in a classic roller or jag, pottering down a sweeping gravel drive when actually they are holding up a line of cars wanting to actually drive to the road speed posted. That sort of travesty. The car often polished to within an inch of its life. Just an observation about a common frustration thats all. Might just be me!

And it wasn't a thread about rover 75s as such, its any recently expired larger saloon car range you get this effect.

Work on your overtaking. If you're getting stuck behind a Rover 75 your driving must be as st and slow as your car.

What gets my goat while I am wafting along in my gorgeous Rover 75 at a calm 30 mph is people tailgating me in a hot hatchback who just sit there and will not overtake as they have no balls.

Dont lets focus on the Rover75 itself. Its more the type of driver and style that buys any older salooner barge and drives in that manner with a queue of cars behind em. Usually on a nice twisty coastal road or peak district run. Many modern drivers cant or won't overtake them and its like following a funeral hearse. Bless em

If you can't overtake a Rover 75 on a twisty B road you must be slower than a second cum at the wheel. Fire it past on an offside bend and quit moaning.

Ok baryon, if you say so ;-)
Just an morning observation, no need to get bent out of shape or knickers twisted. Rover owner possibly? :-)

its a speed limit not a target......(tehcnically at least)

its not so much the people, driving a big, quiet, softly sprung, underpowered car makes you waft, there is no pleasure in hammering one.

Much more pleasent way to drive than arriving at work with white knuckles and road rage!

Each to their own and all that. Not on about road rage journeys to work though. More the nice drive out spoiled or frustrated as unfortunately a lot of drivers cant get past these types of wafty driver leading to long queues following.
