Friend of mine was caught driving with no insurance thought ex husband had set it up before separated, but not the case.

So as soon as was caught got insurance sorted and they said to tell them once the court code has come through, so she has done that now and they are now saying wont insure her and given her 14 days to find other insurance.

She has 3 points sp30 and a 6 points IN10, she lost her no claims as was on ex husband insurance for more than 2 years

Any recommendations for insurance companies who would give a decent quote,
5 companies already said wont insure her.

Crikey.

That's going to be tough or expensive. Or both.

If there hadn't been the SP on there it may not have been so bad but any ins co is going to se that as high risk.

I used to work in insurance - IN10s were worse than DRs!

Try Endsleigh or Swinton though - they will insure but it won't be cheap

cant think of anyone off the top of my head, but to save time and hassle I would call a broker that way you can give them the information once rather than having to go through it with every call, Might not be the cheapest way to get insured but might be the easiest.

But if she told them she had a pending no insurance conviction they would have known the code would be IN10. IN10 is the default offence code for driving with no insurance. There is no other. So they could have told her there and then that it wasn't acceptable to them. Something doesn't sound right, not sure she's given you the full story.

I did wonder that when she told me that current insurance said it was going to cancel the insurance, in fact 2 brokers have said the same thing to her.

This one always puzzles me. You have been caught, fined and issued points.
Try to go the correct way and your premium is loaded worse than drink driving dangerous driving etc, but how does that increase the risk of you claiming?

Correlation with dishonesty or carelessness perhaps?
