Refurbishing 'chromed' car and motorcycle bits ?

The internet's coming up big fat ziltch on this for me ... can you get plastic bits off cars and bikes "rechromed" or refinished in some way ? e.g. can a spray shop paint 'chrome' paint to a good standard ?
