Does it do any harm when you shut the door with the frameless door glass?
Keep telling young one to use door itself as its a heavy door and you can see the glass move when pushing shut.

It's not going to do it any good. I would keep suggesting they use the door not the glass but don't cry if they don't.

I wouldn't have thought so. I've got a car with four pillar-less doors! And occasionally using the glass to close them appears to cause no harm whatsoever.

After all the glass is going to be subject to all sorts of shocks and loads far in excess of a finger push during normal driving. Think of wind buffeting at high speed, rough surfaces and so on. It's strong stuff.

If it's closed with the glass regularly enough you bend the runners enough to make the glass loose and rattle. My old classic WRX did that pretty quickly with one particular individual I used to give a lift to. After asking them not to, and them continuing to, they found themselves walking a rather long way back to the office one day...

I would insist they not use the glass to close the door. - Whilst you may be lucky, it's not an especially clever idea to use the glass. Plus you'll just end-up with fingerprints everywhere.

Friends do this all the time with my MINI, it does my head in! It can't be doing it much good, especially considering the weight of the door it needs to close.

Its like slamming the doors and boot on an old Jag. Its not necessary, doesn't do any real harm, but will probably cause things to wear a little faster and it's BL**DY annoying so DON'T

Sensible suggestion. They'll soon get the idea.
