Anyone see that? The @Honda_UK twitter account just tweeted all the major UK car mags/sites (PH Included) stating that the OTR price of the new CTR was going to be £43k... but now the tweets have been deleted?

I can only hope they meant to put 34k... even that's a lot.

A lot of people expected it to be circa 40K due to the ech and performance on offer.

Did they? What's the RRP on a Megane 265 Cup? Around 30k is it not?

Hi everyone,

We've just had Honda on the phone who have confirmed that their twitter account was hacked - hence the offending tweets have been removed. Its a shame in some ways as it had sparked a hell of a Friday afternoon debate here at PH HQ! Lets just hope that when they confirm the actual price it is better aligned with everyone's expectations.

As you were everyone...

Proabaly but 1) That is french and 2) The Civic is expected to be considerably faster in every respect.

Apparently the account was hacked. I'd prefer to believe that they mis-typed the price!

Even if they get 5s quicker around the ring, which would be a massive task, it wont be worth £13k more!

Coming from a massive Honda fanboy here..

Wasn't the first UK Type R £15995? That'd be some inflation if it's anywhere near £40k.

I see to remember that the TVR Tuscan was a touch under £40k!

The old "the account was hacked" line, have Honda just made some redundancies in their marketing department and an ex employee wants the last laugh?

Now call me cynical...

But...

Stirring up interest perhaps...

Viral Marketing, or whatever...

We just had a similar discussion in the office. Well, we had to try and carry on the Friday afternoon debate somehow! One thing is for sure, there are a lot of people who have become a lot more interested in the car's price in the last hour... scratchchin

This is always my assumption when a 'mistake' or a 'hacking' occurs, or some birds norks fall out on live TV. It's all viral marketing.

It'll make the actual car seem a bargain when they announce that it's £35k.

If you went to the bother of hacking an account you'd post something a hell of a lot more controversial than that.

They will sell the square root of fk all of them if they are priced anywhere near £40k. I expect it will be mid £30ks to compete with the likes of the M135i and Golf R but realistically it needs to be priced closer to the Seat unless it's a limited run car.

Indeed, who the hell goes to the effort of hacking a big twitter account only to post some mild and quickly discredited misinformation?

Maybe they were just testing the waters? Toe quickly withdrawn "Someone hacked our toe".

If Honda say the price is actually £39,995 we'll know for certain hehe
