At Beaconsfield services the other night there was a German registered car transporter with a load of VWs, all German registered as far as I could see. I can understand a German transporter delivering new unregistered cars in the UK, but not German registered ones.

Anybody know what the story behind this could be?

What sort of Volkswagens were they? Could have been for a press demonstration or launch event.

I suspect it might have been a load of the electric VW. I can't get into photobucket at the minute but have a look at

They seemed to be Golves, I assumed they weren't new because of the reg plates and because they didn't have the protection you tend to see on new cars. But I might be wrong.

if they are registered, someone must own them (obvious, but cars at dealers don't have plates on in Germany)

what reg? WOB would be wolfsburg and possibly VW press cars

Could be a German press release for a car. Strange for it to be UK though.

We had a transporter full of M3's and M4's go to Austria for one of the press launches. They were on UK plates, UK transporter abroad.

I think they were. I noticed they all seemed to have the same 3 letters and I'm pretty sure it was WOB. Certainly WO something.

Electric Golves? Did they have extra LEDs around the bumpers?

I was thinking that, because they are out in DE, but not yet in UK?

(and when did 'Golves' become the official plural? )
