Not the ideal start to a Monday.
Discussion
Morning all
This morning I ran out of fuel driving to work. Not ideal, but had a mile or so walk to Shell and got it sorted, arrived just an hour late to work.
If you saw this on the Rotherham Cranklow Bypass this morning, twas me:

Anyway, that wasn't it for Monday. As I was an hour or so later I hit rush hour. Just outside of work some guy/youth wanted to fight me for apparently cutting him up. (I don't believe I did, in fact I know I didn't, but don't entertain this claim as I can't be bothered disputing it)
What the f
k is wrong with people? Shouting and swearing at me to pull up and get out the car (Which I did as I had to get to work, he drove off).
Now I'm sat worrying that this guy will return to the car park where I pulled in and damage the car. Anyone had a similar experience?
Not the best thread in the world but just needed to get that off my chest/keyboard. Oh, and when I sat down at work I broke the height adjuster on my chair so I feel like I'm sat on the floor, lol.

Don't worry about the idiot, we all encounter them from time to time. I had a guy want to fight me a because I interupted his land speed record attempt when I pulled out of a junction. It was funny really, as when we both stopped at a petrol station about 5 miles later on, the guy who looked about 12 and weighed probably 8 stone wringing wet, was a full on argument with the cash machine, and had forgotten all about the fight he wanted with me.
pay him no mind, your idiot will be on to his third or fourth confrontation of the day by now, it's just the way some people behave.

just to make you feel better I have never run out of fuel in 25 years of driving.
How did you manage to NOT put enough fuel in for your journey, its not like there a lack of fuel stations nowadays.
I've only had the car a week, but the fuel light wasn't on when I set off this morning. How did you manage to NOT put enough fuel in for your journey, its not like there a lack of fuel stations nowadays.
I knew it was low, but I thought I'd get more than required 20 miles from the fuel light. In my previous car, an Audi A4, the fuel light would appear with 60+ miles usually still left on the range.
The Integra cut out after about 15 miles.
Don't feel too bad about running out of petrol. I was about 10 minutes off running out in mid-wales on a Saturday evening after finding out that every petrol station I knew of was closed! Had to drive 15 minutes to find one that was open. Ended up doing 50 in 6th with AC and radio off with the windows open and the car threatening to steam up. Not good!
As far as the idiot goes, it happens. Best is to ignore them and forget about it.

Interesting point! I'd hate to live like that. Well it was quite busy and slow and I was idly looking around, as you do.
Evidently I had "looked at him"!!!
What. The. Actual. f

Sometimes I get seriously worried about the sort of people I have to be in any proximity to.

Probably in the closet about his sexuality and felt threatened about a man's eyes.

I'm surprised really, on my mk5 3.2l golf r32, when the fuel light comes on, or should I say, when it shows as 0 miles left. I guess I can easily get 30-40 plus miles out of it, because when it shows 0 miles left, I stil constantly give her some, in sport and manual mode using the paddleshifters to downshift from high revs and a 10 mile journey doing that usually is another 15, 20 miles of added fuel usage.
So I am very suprised you broke down 15 miles since the light came on.
I only broke down once in it, at night, around 8, just after I finished covering back from coventry 18 miles there and back, showed 0 miles heading there and drove back with 0 miles both steady drives, so nearly 35 miles, when I came off the dual carriageway I was going mental with it loool. So 5 minutes arriving back into brum, it broke down, thankfully in area that wasn't too bad and I could hear it jock before it came to a stop which gave me enough time to pull up on the payment and thankfully not in the middle of the road!!!
I was bit embarrassed, as there were cars on the road in traffic, so I pretended like I didn't run out of fuel and lifted the bonnet open, prentending I was playing with a part under the car!
A few people on the opposite side of the road in the cars, said If I was alright, I was tempted to ask for a lift to the petrol station but was a bit ashamed to do so.
I had a jerry can in the boot and a box I put the jerry can in the box and of i walked, 1 mile up the road, 1 mile back to fill up, I was absoloutely shattered and I was sweating like a pig!!!
Did you have a jerry can to hand?
Anyway, enough of my 'cool story bro'

In November 1997 I bought a lovely new Alfa Spider - dark met blue in Lusso spec
All was fine and dandy, except that three of the gauges - including fuel - were in the centre of the dash and surrounded by deep cowls and the low fuel warning was obscured by said cowl from my driving position.
I must have run out of fuel in that car a dozen times - odd as I don't make a habit of running my bikes out of petrol and they haven't even got gauges. I always kept a gallon can in the boot.
