It deserves a new thread anyway, re-kindle some of the ridiculous debates on the topic. My thoughts are that he pretty much got what he deserved. Everyone is going to have a different opinion about what his punishment should have been so there will never be any agreement (this is the internet). Although the fact that he got on track is in itself very concerning (why/how wasn't he stopped?) the most disturbing thing was the reaction of the girlfriend. She was so afraid and he just didn't care. What kind of man could bear to ignore his OH screaming and begging him to stop the car?

I cant help thinking there ought to be a different way of punishing people who are merely in the box marked stupid.
He could have been banned for 3 years and made to pay all the revenue to the track along with personal damages to the gf. Still, I'm sure he'll learn (lots of new things) in jail.
I accept that the punishment is quite severe, but I can only guess they've done it to serve as a warning or make him an example for anyone else who might think it was a good idea.
Have to say though it really makes me smile. The guy came across as a complete and utter pillock. It's nice to see justice done sometimes.

Perhaps if this nation jailed a few more people just for being total pricks we'd start making some progress?
May I nominate the guy in the pub on Saturday who said "I can't believe they landed a man on a Comet at last, its been 30yrs since they faked the moon landing sh*t"
(Yes that was Man and 30yrs, you read right... he was also mostly sober!)
Will it be ironic if part of Polo mans rehabilitation is a trip karting?

Jailed, seriously? Yes he is stupid little prat but...jail, not sure I agree with the punishment this time. We've turned someone who right now is a but of a prat into someone who will probably never hold down a job and cost the state a fortune. What a waste.
No matter how you judge it he put lives at risk, the passengers in his car and race drivers. That in my eyes deserves harsh punishment. I wouldn't hire him if I found out he was the guy in the video and it was destined to come out no matter where he went to work. So criminal record or not I don't think he had a good track anyway. Pardon half pun....Edited by vz-r_dave on Monday 17th November 16:10
Although on the surface it's a little funny, he took two others onto a live circuit without regard to the safety of anyone around him including marshals and spectators.
He got onto the circuit because no one was expecting anyone so stupid to do that. There is no marshal on the pit lane as it was a long race and thsy don't normally need to stop trespassers! understand.

Absolutely. Community service picking up the litter every Saturday at Brands for six months would have been cheaper, useful and wouldn't make him a martyr.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
