Hi all, Been looking at Qashqais for a family member and considering the 1.2 or the 1.5.

The trouble is she only does a small commute to work 3-4 times a week and then the weekly shopping trips. So average journey would be 7-10 miles max. I would say once a month there is a longer journey when the car is fully up to temp for a prolonged period (DPF could regen)

Are these new DPF's capable of regenerating in a 10 mile journey? Its urban driving so max of 40mph and revs would be low. I have heard of 5th injectors etc but still to get up to that temp in such a short time would still be difficult I imagine.

However I am also worried the 1.2 would be too slow and sluggish (Its a big car and it is loaded up fully on occasions for family trips etc)

Anyone have any experience with engine engine?

The engine engine wink that I have experience with is the 1.5 DCi

Fine when on the boil but off, it's really flat, you need to make sure that the turbo is kept spooling else it's get out and push time. I suspect the 1.2 petrol would be miles worse.

The 1.2 is a turbo, so wouldn't feel flat. For that kind of driving i'd probably go for the petrol engine engine. Smoother, quieter, should warm up quicker and won't suffer from DPF issues.
