Reminds of that one a few years ago where a fence post went up through the passengers footwell after the driver took a shortcut through a fence.

On 999 or a similar TV show they reported on a guy who was speared through his shoulder by a fence post

IIRC it wasn't a little rail like in this case but a 4" round post - pinning him to the seat.

Perhaps he'd been giving it some stick? Unless you chainsaw this picture you woodn't believe it. Glad this has been fenceposted and when I saw it I had a plank expression to start with, as nearly a headrest in peace situation.

Very lucky.

I would have liked to have seen the look on his face, the first time he saw the picture.

I imagine the stakes were pretty high when the fire crew were cutting him out.

RTC I went to a few years ago. Kid had passed his test a few days before, going around the roundabout with group of friends, trying to pass a drink to a passenger in the rear...

Thankfully he was wearing his seatbelt. Ended up with just a broken wrist I believe.

I was at a RTC about 25 years ago where the driver was complaining about something sticking in the back of his head.

It was the metal tip of a golf brolly that had started on the back parcel shelf and had penetrated all the way through his head-rest.

An inch lower and it would have passed between seat and headrest and caught him in the neck.

As it was, he had a broken leg, was missing most of his teeth and had chest injuries, but I don't think he really appreciated how lucky he actually was...

I had one very similar on the Robinhood r/bout on the A3. A landrover came off the carriageway and hit the same type of railings which bent and proceeded to pierce the bulkhead and dashboard exiting through the sunroof, missing the headrest by inches. Guy was no where to be seen, he did a runner. Very, very lucky.

Friend of mine hit a stag (animal) in a Caterham. The antlers pierced the skin of the car in several places around him but he avoided being pierced by them.

I have pics somewhere.

A friend of ours was killed a few years ago in a fairly minor nose-to-tail on a trunk A-road, when a box of books on the back shelf took the back of his head out.
