I have a multi car policy with an "admirable" provider covering my car, wife's and daughter's . Nothing exceptional and 14 years no claims each and daughter coming up to first year's NCB. Relatively low crime rural area. £1640 all in fully comp incl legal aid no breakdown. I called to see if they could improve and they got it down to £1460. Some points to note......

1. Help desk is in Canada! They were helpful and I could understand them.
2. Wife's speed awareness course cost an additional £36 on her policy but nothing extra as named driver elsewhere.
3. Had she taken the 3 points, the extra charge would have been £58
4. After accruing 1 year NCB, having parents as named drivers on daughter's policy actually cost more -£120 more for both of us.
5. It was cheaper for parents to just drive daughter's car third party only under our own comprehensive policies.
6. As daughter uses her car to attend college most days, she was classed as business use costing an extra £25.

This seemed to be a case of the company really trying to milk every slight extra premium where possible.

Phoned vauxhall "viva" and with an additional 10% discount for already having a life assurance policy with them, the all in cost with fully named drivers on daughter's policy came to £1140. Much happier and a UK based help desk too!

Thought this might be of interest to someone especially with multi car and a young driver on board.
