Ebay seller ( almo-erda )is currently advertising 75 different vehicles ranging from diggers to jensens, all classified ads with unfeasibly low prices. He claims on each and every ad that he is selling on behalf of a friend and offers to pass your mobile number onto his friend the vendor. Other than collecting a load of random mobile numbers, what does the "vendor" gain from this activity other than your personal e-mail address if you messaged him direct other than through the any questions facility. Your thoughts...

The 'vendor' will ask the interested party to bank transfer/escrow/moneypak/western union the money to them (or a percentage of it as a 'holding' deposit) and then vanish into the ether, never to be seen again.

Plays on people's desires for a bargain overriding their basic common sense that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
