The French have Michelin, us Brits have Ordinance Survey, but what do the Germans use?

I want some detailed maps for a forthcoming trip.

+1 for the Michelin. Very good. Also does city maps.

BTW, because the Germans build many new roads, unlike the Brits,
2007 map is looking IMHO quite out of date.

Time for a new one ?

I think its ADAC who do the Germans maps. (bit like our AA/RAC)
I appreciate you need them before you go, but pop into the first German motorway garage you come across. They usually sell a compact wallet - about €10 - with a full detailed road map of each region(10 in total I think). Pain in the butt if you're on your own and you cross 3 regions and have 3 maps open in a small car - LOL - but they're pretty good for the immediate purpose and good to have just to give you perspective.
Failing that - Michelin.
