I have been approached from NZ to sell my motorhome to someone there. He seems keen and, certainly, motorhomes are a lot more expensive in New Zealand.
However, I am very aware of all the scams out there. So far the purchaser has established a financial link and sent £50 to try this out. I asked for a 10% holding deposit (circa £2,000) but he is suggesting £500 for now.
He has appointed an independent vehicle examiner - who is well established and seems OK - to look over the vehicle and report tomorrow.
I am aware that I should not accept more than the agreed sum and pay the balance to a shipper - an old trick but what else should I watch outfor? When the final transfer takes place what is the minimum time the money can sit in my account before I am sure the sending bank will not reverse the transaction and leave me stuffed ?
Any help/tips/advice might help me sleep at night !

Oh, a private buyer, I thought a commercial outfit had approached you.

It's much less scammy over here but that's not to say it's scam free.

Personally I'd see if there was a company that did this sort of thing and let them take liability and commission at his cost or no deal.
