car insurance in my name or named driver?
Discussion
Hi I have ford focus and a golf gti. I have the focus in my name and have my own insurance and I was just querying whether I need the golf gti in my name or can I leave it in my dads name and be a named driver?
The reason I ask is because I use the focus daily to commute to work and only use the gti at weekends, whereas my dad uses the gti daily.
Thanks.

I'd have thought the best way, unless you want to gain something, is answer the questions truthfully.
So a) who owns the car, and b) who is the main driver, c) who's insurance is it?
You can of course (and some insurance companies will insist you do, tie a & c together as the same person.
So in your car, you take out insurance for the GTI (c), stating you own it (a) put your dad as the main driver (b) and if needed yourself as a named driver.
