Rev it like a rental
Discussion
Quite a few lease on here, as I do myself. I'm handing the car back after two years and it won't be my problem anymore.
However, I do find myself treating it like it's my first born. I think the only thing I do different to my 2nd car (Elise) is that I use it in all weathers.
It's washed regularly with top quality products, it's parked very carefully as not to get dings. The engine it gently warmed and not over-reved until oil temperature is correct. I slow to snails pace for speed bumps I generally drive like an angel. It does get driven fast too, sometimes with the traction off, but always when conditions are right to do so.
Anyone else treat their lease like it's their own? Am I just wasting time and money looking after it?

It never ceases to amaze me how anal people can be over a consumer product engineered & extensively tested to cope with all conditions one could possibly envisage.
Whilst I applaud mechanical empathy & fully sympathise with owners of Ferrari 250 GTO's looking to successfully bequeath Enzo's legacy, the rest of everyone should be ragging the s
t out of their mass produced, heavily tested, spares-readily-available consumer durable. Winter wheels hand wringing being a great example in most cases.

k off?Ah, ETA you work in IT & drive a small hatchback. I see.
A lease car I look after because I still have it for a significant period of time. Holiday style rentals are a different game though and I go full a
hole and find all its limits as often as possible.
Having said that I think I'm quite hard on all my cars but I just accept the extra maintenance that goes with it. Washing cars is something different and I've become allergic to that in recent years.

Generally I drive all cars with care - the only issue being if its a vastly under powered car which we had once on holiday 600cc to take 4 adults plus luggage my bad we went very cheap and needed 2nd gear lots with the valves bouncing out of the bonnet.
But when you buy a car you've no idea how its been driven - it might have been nailed every single morning from cold or had oil changes every 1k miles.
