In light of both the "Troy is real" and "Which is the ugliest 911" threads, I would nominate Porsche, at least this week.

TVR gets an honourable mention when it comes to engine rebuilders smile

BMW fans, lift your game! The new M3 thread had promise, but there was a disappointing lack of proper venom.

I used the word fans, because in some cases the most vociferous defenders of a marque don't actually own one.

VAG surely? PH indeed seems divided between "All VAG cars driven by printer salesmen driving aggressively because they're depressed about owning a diesel" etc and "DUB 4 LIFE" etc

Well it's not Mercedes, we are a sophisticated, non confrontational, mature lot, who let our choice in cars do the talking.

You can do all that from the back of a Mercedes Roadside Assistance van?

Classic Mini.

The rose tinted glasses are amazing. I have had a range of minis, driven twice to Spain (and back)in one, had a rally mini, autocross one, and done just about every job possible on them. They are basically a rust trap, poorly designed in many areas and underpowered. Brilliant in some places but please......

Yes I loved them but come on they are not the greatest things that the fanboys would have you believe.
Also the BMW mini is not rubbish not too big and if the management of BMC had any sense they would have kept going and built a car very similar to the BMW jobbie by now.

Lotus must be in with a chance. Read what the fans write and you'd believe Lotus builds the best sports cars in the world which no buyer can resist.

Ask the question, "Then why do Lotus sell so few cars?" and it all kicks off.

Mind you Audi drivers are a very special breed. Had a classic and very typical example earlier this week.
  • Sitting side by side at traffic lights
  • Lights go green: Audi blasts off into the distance
  • A mile later (dual carriageway) he's pottering along at 55 in the inside lane and I'm approaching at 70
  • I move out to overtake and guess what........?
Did he
A. Slam on the brakes?
B. Continue at a steady 55?
C. Accelerate full throttle into the distance?

I spent a lot of time on the VOC forum and apart from a few members who had personal beef it was a good place to be a part of.

Edit: Beef, not beer.

Mmmm beer.

RX8 owners for sure. Join up to a forum and ask about changing the rotary for a reliable piston engine and see what happens. Fireworks guaranteed.

Well all I can say is that I have a sheddy Range Rover and we're not argumentative at all.

The argumentative onces are all the wkers and dheads who don't have cars like us because you're all not good enough.

Wanna fight me to find out?

See also the A-series engine owners club. "It's a great engine once it's been properly rebuilt".

The thing is, to gain max points the arguments have to be conducted within the marque as well.

BMW vs Audi vs Porsche? A bit meh.

E92 vs F10 BMW, aircooled vs watercooled VW, A3 vs S3 : that's when the popcorn comes out biggrin

I have realised I was unjust to BMW in my first post : I clean forgot the "///M vs M-Sport" handbags at dawn.

I think BMW is becoming split into two camps now i.e. pre-Bangle and post-Bangle intervention. Newer ones in the main do very little for me, whereas others will defend them to the hilt and possibly cannot understand the appeal of something like an E24 6-series
